SYDNEY, 23 March 2017 -- Macquarie Ice Rink has completed a grand scale, multi-million-dollar transformation that will establish the venue as the hub of ice sport and recreation activity in Sydney.

The refurbishment is set to delight skaters of all levels by offering a suite of exciting new features and activities that will have visitors coming back for more.

Skaters will love the introduction of bubble soccer, around-the-clock music videos on the 15 square metre LCD screen, and cheering on the Sydney Bears and the Sydney Ice Dogs at ice hockey games throughout the season.

Dr Frank Gregg, owner of Macquarie Ice Rink, is confident the revamped facility will bolster an expanding interest in winter sports throughout the community, both at a professional and recreational level.

“With the 2018 winter Olympics on the horizon, the timing of our refurbishment could not be better. Ice skating is becoming an increasingly popular activity within our community and we want to provide skaters with a facility they’ll want to return to over and over again,” he said.

Newly installed LED lighting will provide skaters with better illumination, and an arsenal of state-of-the-art ice maintenance machines, including a brand new compressor and dehumidifier, will ensure optimum skating conditions at all times. Guests looking for a time-out will love the comfort of the temperature controlled, rink-side café.

A slew of activities has been planned to keep kids entertained over the Easter school holidays including an Easter Sunday hat parade, face painting, prize giveaways and a live DJ session on Easter Monday. For more information, session times and to purchase tickets, visit or call (02) 9888 1100.
