By entering the venue, you agree to abide by the following Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions of Entry

This is a private facility. The operator - the Owners and Management of Macquarie Ice Rink - reserves the right to prohibit improper use or misconduct at the facility. Use of the ice rink by any person is conditional upon their acceptance of the following disclaimers, rules and regulations.

Anyone entering the facility agrees to the following disclaimers, rules and regulations

The operator retains the right to deny entry to any skater (a) who violates these disclaimers, rules and regulations or (b) in any other circumstances where the operator deems fit.

The operator reserves the right to alter these disclaimers, rules and regulations without prior notice.

Disclaimer

1. ALL SKATERS SKATE AT THEIR OWN RISK. An accident could occur either through one's own misadventure or due to another skater(s), and the risk of such must be assumed by the skater, or by the parent / legal guardian of any underaged skater (12 years or below). Macquarie Ice Rink will not be held liable for any accidents within the venue however caused nor will Macquarie Ice Rink offer compensation for any medical expenses incurred as a result of injury.

2. Skaters should exercise reasonable care for their own safety as well as the safety of other skaters or any underaged skaters in their care. Parents/legal guardians of underaged skaters must carefully consider and assess the risks of ice skating and the suitability of their children for this sport before allowing them onto the ice rink. Parents/legal guardians are reminded to keep underaged skaters supervised at all times. Please refer to Rule 9 below.

3. Entering the ice rink indicates a full understanding and acceptance of these rules and regulations. The operator shall not under any circumstance be responsible for : (a) any injury or death to any skater (including underaged skaters) which occurs as a result of the actions of the skater or another third party at the ice rink, or (b) be liable to any customer or third party, whether contractual, tortious or otherwise, for loss or damage to property or death or injury to such customers or third parties, howsoever caused.

Rules and Regulation for Skaters

4. For their personal safety, skaters should have already mastered some basic skills or taken appropriate training in skating before entering on the ice.

5. Skaters are reminded to skate safely and in a controlled manner to avoid collisions with other skaters, and to follow the instructions of our staff at all times.

6. Skaters must maintain a safe speed that does not exceed that of the majority of the skating crowd and skate following a counter-clockwise direction only, unless instructed otherwise by our staff.

7. Skaters must skate safely. In particular:


  • Skaters must not skate in the opposite direction or against the flow of traffic.


  • Skaters must not perform sudden stops while in the main flow of traffic.


  • Skaters must not cut across the centre of the ice surface.


  • Skaters must not skate backwards unless it is safe to do so.


  • Skaters must not skate backwards while holding onto another person.

8. To avoid dangers, skaters must not carry any child or object (such as bags, mobile phones or cameras) while skating.

9. Underaged skaters (except skating school students taking lessons) should be accompanied and supervised at all times by their parents/legal guardians while inside the ice rink (including the ice surface and the other areas), whether skating or not.

10. Skaters are recommended to wear gloves and adequate protective gear (helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, etc.) whilst skating. Skaters must ensure that they are using the right size skates and to ensure that they are fastened correctly. Skaters with skates that are not properly fastened or do not fit will not be allowed on the ice surface.

11. Cones are placed on the ice surface to delineate a lesson area. Skaters other than skating school students must not enter the coned area.

12. Performing any skills or manoeuvres which involve skate blades being lifted above knee height may be restricted by the operator or Manager on Duty for safety of all patrons.

13. Skaters must not make snowballs or be playing with the scraped ice.

14. Skaters must not intentionally damage the ice surface (such as kicking holes, scraping the ice).

Conduct at the rink

15. Passing of objects over the barrier into or out of the ice rink is strictly prohibited.

16. Skaters are responsible for the safety of their personal belongings. Lockers are available and are recommended for storing personal belongings. The operator is not responsible for any damage or loss to skaters' belongings. In the event of personal belongings being lost or stolen, security camera footage will not be available to be viewed by any individual, however it will be provided upon request by relevant authorities (i.e centre security, police).

17. Misbehaviour or the use of the ice rink for any purpose other than skating; or use of derogatory or inappropriate language in public is strictly prohibited, and the operator reserves the right to expel such skaters from the ice rink.

18. All skaters must retain their receipt as a record of their skate rental and skating time inside the ice rink.

19. No commercial or coaching activities are allowed in the ice rink without the prior written consent of the operator.

20. Climbing on the barriers, handrails and chairs is not allowed. Malicious damage to any part of the ice rink, including the barriers or ice surface, will be subject to legal action.

21. Smoking, Vaping or the use of Electronic cigarettes inside the venue is prohibited by law.

22. Food and drinks, other than plastic bottled water, are not allowed inside the venue.

23. Consumption of alcohol is prohibited on the premises outside of specially designated events and areas during said events.

24. Macquarie Ice Rink has a zero tolerance policy towards abuse of our staff.

25. As a condition of entry, you agree to follow directions given by members of staff. Directives given by staff are done so for the safety of all patrons.

26. In the instance of an emergency/practice drill which includes the evacuation of the venue, no refunds will be issued.

The operator reserves the right to alter these disclaimers, rules and regulations without prior notice.
